The Warrington Hotel in Maida Vale is 158 years old and back in the day it used to be a high class brothel. The slang term 'randy' allegedly originated here, due to the fact it's next to 'Randolph Avenue'. I suspect 'I'll have half a shandy' probably meant something quite different in there way back when.
